Lua Scripting added to Hono CobraNet
ASI2416/Custom and Mini
NEWCASTLE, DE (February 1, 2012) AudioScience, Inc., a professional digital audio innovator in the radio broadcast and installed sound industry, has added Lua scripting ability to its Hono ASI2416/Custom and Mini CobraNet products.
The Lua Scripting eXtensions (LSX) allows an AudioScience network interface to automatically perform a user-specified set of actions when a particular condition occurs. For example, an opto input triggered from a push button can cause one or more relays on the network interface to close. The same event could also cause one or more relays on a remote node to close. LSX supports accesses to meters (both RMS and Peak), volumes (including mutes) and timer objects.
Richard Gross, president of AudioScience, explains "One of the exciting things about LSX is that customers can implement microphone push-to-talk functionality without requiring any external hardware. Alternatively, with a microphone attached to monitor ambient background noise, and output volume could be automatically adjusted to compensate. The possibilities are endless and I will be interested to learn how our customers deploy this exciting new feature."
LSX runs on AudioScience network interfaces including the Hono ASI2416/Hono Custom and Hono Mini running firmware 4.10 and later. Script editing and testing is supported in ASIControl version 4.10 and later.
