HCJB WORLD RADIO CONTRACTS WITH AUDIOSCIENCE FOR ADVANCED
AUDIO CARD. ELKHART, IN (April-3rd, 2001). - HCJB World Radio entered into an agreement with AudioScience for the development of an MPEG Layer II/III audio adapter designed specifically for use with the ARIEL (Automated Radio In Every Language) automation system Dave Pasechnik, director of the HCJB World Radio Engineering Center in Elkhart Indiana, said "AudioScience was the clear choice! They offered the best combination of hardware and software for the price." The ASI6201 will be based on dual TMS320C6711 DSPs from Texas Instruments. It will offer five streams of MPEG Layer II/III playback with simultaneous MPEG-Layer II/III record all at different sample rates. Both balanced analog and AES/EBU digital I/O are provided with the adapter sample clock being able to be synched to the AES/EBU input. Scott McConnell, managing the ARIEL development, stated "We looked at the IBM-compatible audio adapter marketplace and found three solid performers in the professional audio arena. After a year evaluating the capabilities and direction of each company, AudioScience was the only one able to bring MPEG Layer II/III functionality to both the Linux and Windows environments."
