AUDIOSCIENCE ANNOUNCES WORLDS FIRST BROADCAST PCI EXPRESS SOUND
CARDS
Newcastle, DE (April-5,2006) - AudioScience, a
leader in professional sound cards for radio broadcast
applications, has announced the world's first broadcast sound
cards utilizing the next generation PCI Express (PCIe) bus.
PCI Express is an emerging interface that uses serial data
interconnects that run at 2.5Gb/s. The single lane PCI Express
interface used in the ASI6600 series provides a peak throughput
of over 200MBytes/s, almost double that of the older parallel
32bit PCI bus.
The ASI6600 series of sound cards takes the renowned ASI6000
series to a new level with a faster DSP, short-length PCI
format, +24dBu analog levels, 96kHz sample rates and SSX
multi-channel support. All the features of the AudioScience
ASI6000 range are also present such as MRX multi-rate mixing,
MPEG Layer 2 and 3 encoding and decoding, TSX time scaling and
SoundGuard transient voltage protection on all I/O.
Richard Gross, AudioScience President and co-founder said: "Take
a look inside any new computer that you have purchased in the
past 6 months. Chances are it will include at least one PCI
Express slot. The ASI6600 PCI-Express series can take advantage
of these slots and shows our commitment to follow industry
standards as they emerge and provide continuing innovation to
the radio broadcast industry".
The ASI6644 and ASI6614 are the first products in the ASI6600
PCI Express range and include both balanced analog and AES/EBU
digital I/O. Four stereo inputs and outputs are provided on the
ASI6644, while the ASI6614 has one stereo input and four stereo
outputs. Hardware sample rate converters are present on all AES/EBU
inputs and a dedicated AES/EBU and Word Clock sync input are
also standard.
SSX surround sound extensions (available in Q3'2006) will allow
the ASX6600 series to play, record and mix audio streams with as
many as 8 channels each, while utilizing the advanced ASI6000
series features of MRX multi-rate mixing and TSX time scaling.
The new series features driver support for Windows WAVE,
DirectSound and Linux ALSA. Developers may additionally use the
AudioScience ASX and HPI development environments.
The ASI6644 and ASI6614 will be available in May
2006. For pricing and further information, contact Richard
Gross at +1-302-235-7109.
