ASI2416 MODULAR COBRANET INTERFACE
NEWCASTLE,DE (April-12, 2005) – AudioScience, Inc., a maker of professional audio products for broadcast has announced the ASI2416, a modular 1RU CobraNetTM interface.
Part of a growing range of AudioScience CobraNet products designed specifically for audio networking in radio broadcast, the ASI2416 can be populated with four function specific modules, allowing up to 32 channels of analog or AES/EBU I/O and up to 64 relay based GPIO outputs and 64 opto-isolated inputs
Each module has a unique interchangeable connector portion that maybe configured with either a pluggable terminal block, StudioHubTM or a standard 50pin Centronics connector interface compatible with AudioScience’s sound cards. Current modules include the ASI1401 Analog Module with 4 stereo balanced inputs and outputs, the ASI1402 AES/EBU Module with 4 AES/EBU inputs and outputs and the ASI1403 GPIO Module with 16 relay outputs and 16 opto-isolated inputs.
The ASI2416 base unit features 16 channels of CobraNet I/O and a powerful Texas Instruments 32bit floating point DSP that allows complex switching/mixing and broadcast specific features such as tone decoding. A graphics display on the units front panel displays peak meters and network status.
As well as being used as part of a facility wide CobraNet audio network, the ASI2416 maybe operated in a tethered mode, whereby it is connected directly to an ASI6416 CobraNet sound card with an Ethernet crossover cable. In this mode, the features of the ASI2416 become an extension of the ASI6416, allowing it to be used seamlessly with automation applications.
AudioScience provides ASIRoute, an application that allows CobraNet routing connections to be setup between the ASI2416 and any other compliant CobraNet device on the network. Alternatively 3rd party CobraNet design and management software may be used such as CobraCAD from Cirrus Logic or CobraNet Manager from D&R Electronica B.V.
